Material World
Inaugural group show at Goat, May-June, 2022.
Material World, curated by Nicola Vruwink, will showcase the work of 5 sculptors whose artistic practices are rooted in materials and materiality. Collectively, their work investigates transformation, the transformation of materials, and our conscious and unconscious relationship with said materials. The evocative work by these artists flirts between nature and culture, conceptual research and intuitive making, the ephemeral and physical. Each is one part artist and one part alchemist as they transform materials from the expected to the unexpected; the familiar becomes unfamiliar and yet does not confront but instead, comforts and welcomes you into unfamiliar territory.
